Event: SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon, on 29 October 2017
Participants: James, Ronan, Kevin, Karl, Paul, Christoper, Rosaleen
We provide services and support to those affected by kidney disease.

Story

On Oct 29th, 7 siblings will run the Dublin Marathon. This will be our first race together, and hopefully not the last! 3 of us have completed a marathon before, but for some it's a first. The challenges of training while working, raising young families, & overcoming injuries will all soon be behind us and we'll be ready for the big day.

We will be raising money for the Irish Kidney association, an organization that has supported and helped our Dad over the last 10years.

From the IKA: Kidney disease affects all age groups, both men and women. The reality of kidney disease is that it may impinge on many strands of a person’s life including: health, employment, education, social life and relationships, physical fitness and general well-being.

The priority of the association is to ensure that the unmet needs of the
renal patient and family are addressed by the statutory health and
education system either directly from the mainstream or via an
association like ourselves.

About the charity

We work to meet the needs of people and their families living with and affected by end-stage kidney disease, on dialysis and post-transplant. From valuable donations and fundraisers we can provide services such as counselling, financial aid, the use of a patient support centre and patient holidays.
