Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page which has been created in memory of Deb Basterfield.

Deb was a fantastic, wife, mother, sister, auntie and friend who
had a short but brave battle with cancer and spent her final 30 days at Sue Ryder, Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading.

Deb was overwhelmed by the level of care she received at the
hospice and she kept the fantastic nurses and staff entertained with her daily embarrassing questions :-))  She really felt like she was being cared for with love & respect and regarded the nurses as friends who even came in to see her on their days off.  Their work enabled Deb to be as pain free as possible and she enjoyed visits from her family and friends who were all made very welcome. We even held a pizza evening and a baby shower there. The Duchess of Kent staff enabled Deb to be surrounded by her family & friends during her final days and to pass away peacefully.

Deb was amazed that the Duchess of Kent Hospice is 100% funded by donations and majored on the fact that it costs £15,000* A DAY to run the hospice. She was incredibly grateful for the fundraising efforts of all of her friends and family and we now want to do something significant to remember her by and to assist with a small part of their fundraising efforts. ** We have upped our target to £20,000 from 25/02/19.

As Deb’s friends & family, we are aiming to raise at least £15,000 as this is the amount it costs Sue Ryder to run the Duchess of Kent hospice for a day. Donations prior to this page going live from the funeral and personal donations/cake sales already totalled £5,161.45 which is a fantastic effort but we want more. . . . . .

We plan to undertake multiple activities and organise events and we will not stop until we have raised £15,000. or more.
