Regain Riders · 9 August 2017

Regain is the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the independence of all British men & women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sporting or leisure accident. A tetraplegic is unable to walk and has limited reach & dexterity because use of the arms is severely impaired.

Story

If you are reading this, you probably know what happened. 23 years ago, I did something I'd done hundreds of times before, ran and then dived into a lake. This time I hit something and my neck vertebrae at level c5 exploded leaving me paralysed from the shoulders down. Easily done, we are fragile beings. This could easily happen to you, or a friend or loved one. In a second your life is changed forever. Boring bit over!

To raise funds for Regain, I am pushing my body to its' extremes. As you know, I am paralysed from the shoulders down, with no triceps and only partial use of my biceps. Just getting through the average day is hard enough. But I choose to put my efforts into handcycling to show others with disabilities what can be done and show able-bodied that yes, it can be done.

Regain supports people like me who have suffered a traumatic injury to rebuild their lives, by providing essential equipment and support to gain independence and improve lives.

Please give whatever you can. Thank you.
