The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds two clinics giving free treatment to survivors of the 1984 Bhopal Disaster (the World’s worst industrial disaster). It also treats thousands of people who are being slowly poisoned by drinking water contaminated with chemicals never cleared-up from the disaster site.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running in the British 10k London Run 2012 in July to raise funds for much needed clinics in Bhopal, India.

Bhopal is home to the world’s largest ever Chemical disaster. Over twenty thousand have died since midnight December 2, 1984, when the Union Carbide (DOW) chemical plant blew and leaked 27 tons of the deadly gas methyl isocyanate into the city.

Thousands of tonnes of toxic poison still remain at the DOW chemical plant in leaking evaporation ponds. This has polluted the water table for miles and continues to drain into it now. More than 120,000 people still suffer from ailments caused by the accident and the subsequent pollution at the plant site.

The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds clinics to treat the people of Bhopal who would otherwise be left with nothing.

For more information please go to http://www.bhopal.org/ to see what great work the charity does.

You should also try and see the film Bhopali. This year, one of the survivors from the film, Sanjay Verma came to stay with us in London. He was a baby in 1984, and lost seven members of his family in one night.   http://www.bhopal.org/2012/05/bhopali-documentary-dvd-available-online/

I think I’ve laid it on thick enough. So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks guys!!!!
