We mobilise passionate football fans to create chances for change
Story
The Huracan Foundation, on the back of several successful football for development projects in countries such as Sierra Leone and India, have teamed up with Lions Raw (experts in delivering such projects) in Curitaba, Brasil. Our aim: to create the first ever girls' football programme in Cajuru, a disadvantaged part of the city rife with gang and drug problems. In many ways Cajuru is a fitting symbol of the forgetten part of Brasil during this World Cup. Check out the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK1Ez_spu7U
The project will be creating opportunities for girls to play the beautiful game and learn from it, in a community in which Lions Raw is already working. Lions Raw will have coaches there for the next 12 months and will be training local coaches to hand over to after that. Huracan aim to support the project financially and connect it to their projects around the world. Over 30 girls will benefit from new equipment and boots, excellent coaching based around values through football, renovation of pitches and facilities, and being connected to an inspiring international network of similar projects. Huracan FC Brasil will be the 7th project of The Huracan Foundation. Current projects exist in Colombia (2), India, Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Argentina. It will be the second girls' project. £1500 will provide the project with all the start up costs needed for an entire year. We are a movement that mobilises passionate football fans to make a difference in the lives of others locally and globally.
We want to see football fans creating chances for change at home and away.
