Story

Lost Hours Walk 2019

When it hurts we talk. When the clocks go back we walk. Saturday October 26th at 11pm: Time to unite against suicide. As time goes backwards, we're walking forwards to campaign against feeling shit, against struggling in silence, against living miserably.

CALM - the campaign against living miserably, offers men support when they are down or in crisis at www.thecalmzone.net. They exist to prevent suicide, the single biggest killer in men under 45 in the UK. Latest figures show 76% of all UK suicides were male.

Dominique's Story

On Saturday October 26th at 11pm, we will be participating in a 20 mile from Greenwich to Big Ben and then back again. 16 people take their own live every day, on the one day we are given extra time, we walk for all of those whom there wasn’t enough.

I walk for my brother Scott.

Scott sadly took his own life on August 5th 2017. His death was such a shock to every single person that knew him and brought with it unbearable pain to everyone that loved him. The loss of Scott has left such a massive void in all of our lives - one that can not be filled or replaced.  He is very much loved and missed every day.

The main reason I wanted to take on this challenge was to do something positive in Scott’s name, but to also help raise awareness and openness surrounding suicide and mental health. People need to know that they do not have to suffer alone.

I don't like making myself vulnerable and talking about what happened to Scott is the hardest thing for me to do. BUT if the money raised can just help that one person, that one family not to go through what both Scott and we did - it will definitely be worth putting myself out there and all the blisters on the day!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, an even bigger thank you for donating and EXTRA special thank you to Rachael Brooman for volunteering to do this with me.

There are no words to describe how much this means to me. I really hope I do him proud!
