Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, I will be running the Liverpool Half Marathon on Sunday 27th March for Share Uganda.

Share-Uganda started over a year ago by a group of young people in Northern Ireland who travelled to Uganda, naïve about what they would find, but hopeful about trying to do something. What we found was a community of children who know what it is to feel hungry, to have lived a life as a child-soldier, to have a loved one die, to suffer from HIV and Aids, to work long hours, to gain an education in the wrong things in life, some even know what it is to be prostituted to supply money for food for their families. But what we will never forget is that these children-Flavia, Junior, Omar, Tanzania to name a few, laugh every single day. They showed us what it is to love life- to feel life every single day. We also found a man called Dominic, who has given his life to help these children having opened his own home as an orphanage and school. They deserve to be given a chance, and with the motto of, 'you can't do everything, but you can do something', Share-Uganda is going to try.

Share-Uganda's goal is to create awareness regarding the plight of these children in Southern Uganda, and to fundraise to help them become the teachers, doctors, nurses, that they desire to be. Our DVD, Share Uganda: Children Without Childhoods, raises awareness of the movement and captures the naivety that we went with. It documents some of the issues being faced in The Raiki District, and we know that in order to create change people need to be compelled to act. We hope that young people will be actively inspired to create change in these areas desperately in need of help, and to join as one community aiming to help another community.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate if you can.
