About Ben :

Ben was 17 on 3rd November 2007. A hard working student and keen boxer, who trained hard and pushed his body to its limits both physically and mentally. When he started to suffer from headaches, felt tired and ached with an occasional dizzy spell, it was put down to his lifestyle and not his health. He was so fit. He sparred with three opponents in the boxing ring on 12th November 2007. He died the next day. He had a ruptured spleen. Because of the complications of Leukaemia, which had only been diagnosed at this point, he could not be saved. The Leukaemia had attacked his body so aggressively, the Doctors and Surgeons at the hospital said that he must have been a very sick boy ………

About Us :

The Ben Johnson Forget Me Not Foundation provides grants to financial support programmes set up by other charities. With the Foundation’s help these charities can reach more patients and families affected by a cancer (especially but not exclusively blood cancers).
Early detection of Leukaemia and other blood cancers is close to our hearts. Research programmes to develop new tools to diagnose blood cancers sooner means a better chance of survival. We have been fundraising for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research since 2008. The fund set up in memory of Ben at LLR currently stands at over £ 71,000. The Ben Johnson Forget Me Not Foundation was set up by myself, my husband Neil, daughter Jade and family friend Sharan Bearman in 2010 so we could continue to support research but also support individuals, their families and other charities that are, or have been affected by blood cancers. So far the Foundation has raised in excess of £ 111,000.
Overall fundraising since 2008 is a staggering £ 178,000 to date. The future of The Ben Johnson Forget Me Not Foundation and its ability to continue to help others is assured because of caring people like yourselves. Thank you for helping us to make a difference.
