Access Sport is a registered charity. We make inclusion the norm by tackling the access barriers faced by disadvantaged and disabled young people, focussing on the causes of exclusion—not just the symptoms.

Story

Matt loves cycling and cycles lots. Long distances, up Alps, through states.  But not often through England.  And has a shiny new bike that needs to see a bit more of London.  Donna quite likes cycling. She pretty much sticks to central London roads. She loves her pretty orange bike though, and calls her Gina. (Orange....gina...yes?!)  Jim dusted off his original Raleigh Banana last year and brought it slap bang into the 21st century.  But he hasn't really ridden it much since.  (But he has run a marathon.)

All this is about to change!  The Ride Around London is about 115 miles round the outskirts of London, starting at the Herne Hill Velodrome and ending at the Lee Valley Water Centre. The short way between these points is straight through the city.  The way we'll be going takes in Box Hill (300m elevation...), the North Downs (too scared to look up that elevation), round by Windsor Great Park and Eton Dorney and up to the Chilterns (?m high - see fear of North Downs) before dipping back into the city for the home stretch.  I feel tired just thinking about it.

Clearly some of us are feeling more prepared for this than others, so to give Jim and I the motivation to purchase lycra bib shorts and try and catch Matt up, please sponsor us.

Although it's not a race, we'll be trying to do it without falling off through exhaustion and pedalling as fast as our legs will allow, so your sponsorship will be rewarded with updates on how training is going. If you just want that warm glowy feeling that comes from giving money to charity, just don't look at our Facebook or Twitter pages until 26 September.

Money raised through the ride will go to Access Sport who work with young people to transform their lives through sport.
