The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

While I work for the Hospice on an interim basis, I also wanted to fundraise for this exceptional charity and the opportunity to lose some weight and get fitter was certainly a bonus!

Hospices play such a vital role in supporting the seriously and terminally ill, as well as their families and friends, yet many do not realise that they operate as charities, receiving a small portion of their support from the NHS.

My goal is to raise £1000+ in this 12 week challenge while losing 10% -12 % of my weight ( a healthy and realistic goal yet a stretch to acheive).

At the Hospice of St Francis,

£150 could keep our Community Specialist Nurse Team on the road for two weeks.

£400 could fund an iPAD for bed-bound patients to keep in touch with their friends and family when traditional notebooks are too heavy to lift

£25 could pay for a day's supply of oxygen for a patient with breathing difficulties.

Please join me in my challenge. I'm very aware that times are tough and that many of you are generous donors to many charities - my challenge to you is - give up that bottle of wine or cake this week and donate the cost to the Hospice.  Many thanks for you support!
