We teach clinical staff in Africa to improve health in developing areas

Story

Poole Africa Link are supporting a new University Hospital in Lira Uganda.  They are struggling with the costs of equipment and are at significant risk of catching Covid 19 off local people who come to them for help.

The local referral hospital is the designated hospital,  so they are getting some testing kits and a little equipment but the university are getting no help.  We are desperate to fill the void.  With the money raised so far we have sent 100 re-usable long sleeved gowns,  300 fabric face masks,  50 litres of hand sanitiser and  a laminator with the pockets,  so that they can print off  notices reminding staff about the importance of hand washing, PPE recommendations, and other information.  We have also sent a training video.

They need more sanitiser,  soap and masks.  They also want more training videos.

It is a partnership between Poole Hospital NHS FT and Lira hospital and university in Northern Uganda. The current situation in South Sudan means we cannot continue in Wau at present. Our teams deliver teaching to health care professionals in developing areas to enable them to improve health care.
