Story
I am part of the 1st exclusively south Asian women group setting out to climb the worlds tallest free standing mountain, mount Kilimanjaro.
We will be joined by an award winning film crew to document the journey. The feature film will follow the group from training in the UK through to the climb in Tanzania, all the while delving into the themes of representation, identity, breaking boundaries, and everyday acts of courage, sharing intimate interviews with the team.
While the trip is a self funded bucket list venture. I could not pass the opportunity to raise money for a cause I have followed closely since my undergraduate elective research and project on the optimal timings of cleft lip and palate repair.
It is easy to take for granted the surgical care we have available. But for too many people safe surgery is not an option. Children born with cleft lip and palate in the developing world cannot access the surgery they desperately need for a healthy, happy future. Instead they face difficulty breathing, eating and speaking and are left to live in social isolation due to the stigma surrounding their condition. It costs as little as £150 and takes just 45 minutes to provide this life-changing surgery.
Thank you for helping me raise funds to restore the smiles and lives of patients across the globe.
I hope in the future to join a mission to be part of the volunteer team providing surgical interventions that make this work possible.
Really appreciate your support on this page x
