Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Since the summer of 2015, I decided to get into cycling as a way of getting fitter and healthier.  Emer has been a triathlete for some time, and since our three kids are also into it, guess who was "left out..?"

Never one to shy away from a big challenge, I decided to enter some big cycling events.  With the goal of  riding over 10,000km, get fit, and all while raising some funds for a fantastic organisation (Marie Curie) to help people suffering from a terminal illness. Something many of us may have encountered within our family lives.

To make it even more of a challenge, Emer and I raced together in the Etape Caledonia.  We both did exceptionally well.  I finished in just over 4-hours (expected to do it in well over 5 hours) and Emer finished 16th in her category.  A fantastic achievement..

Maybe it's that sense of achievement, but we've steeped things up a little.  I'll be cycling in 5 key events as follows.

(May).  The Etape Caledonia.  131km around Perthshire.

(Jun).  The 3-Pistes Challenge.  160km, taking in the 3 Scottish Ski areas:  Glenshee-The Lecht-Finish at the top of Cairngorm.

(Jul).  The London to Cambridge.  90km on the flat. A rest at last, as member of the Silicon Valley Bank team.

(Aug).  The Tour of the Borders.  120km.  A nice summer run around some borders countryside.

(Sep).  The Etape Royale.   160km around Deeside and Speyside, lending support to the area (Ballater in particular) given the flooding and devastation they experienced due to the winter storms.

Please help us by donating what you can.  Marie Curie is a fantastic charity and we hope that by taking on this challenge we can help them out just a little bit with the amazing work they do.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to marie Curie. So it’s the most efficient way to donate.

      Thank you.  Iain and Emer.
