Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 2014 · 10 August 2014 ·

We’re the carers, researchers, health care professionals, friends & fundraisers, all united in our ambition to ensure that one day, no one will have to live with the pain, fatigue & isolation that arthritis causes.

Story

As a Rheumatologist, every month I see and treat hundreds of patients from all different walks of life with different forms of arthritis whose care has been enhanced because of the work of Arthritis Research UK.  Whether it is providing support and information to patients or funding ground-breaking research, such as that leading to the Anti-TNF class of drugs, Arthritis Research UK has such a hugely beneficial impact on patients that I felt compelled to support them in this way.

Arthritis can come in many different forms but all can have a huge effect on the daily activities that most of us would take for granted.  Please visit ARUK here to learn more about arthritis and how much of an impact ARUK has on the lives of people suffering with arthritis:

The RideLondon-Surrey 100 will take place on Sunday 10th August 2014.  It is a leg-sapping 100 mile route made famous by the elite road race cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics which runs from the Olympic Park in Stratford, out of London through the Surrey Hills and back to finish on the Mall.  With over 4000ft of vertical ascent, including the (in)famous category 4 climbs of Box Hill and Leith Hill, this is not an easy challenge.  I am hoping to do this in under 6 hours at an average speed of around 30kph (weather dependent!).  This is not something that I currently have the ability to just turn up and do; it will involve months of training.  I will post training updates along the way.  If you would like to be sent an email link to follow my progress live on the day then please include an email address in your message.  Any support at all which you could pledge would be greatly appreciated and help a most valuable cause.  Thank you!!!
