Story
Some intrepid members of our Logistics, Procurement and Trading teams are collectively (and perhaps insanely) going to embark upon an epic 25 mile, 12 hour mission across the Yorkshire peaks on Friday, 6th June, in order to raise money for Marfleet Primary School near the Port of Hull, as part of the King George Dock 100 Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
Marfleet school is situated close to the Port of Hull and was built in 1892 for the children of dockworkers. The school continues to provide a first-rate education for children in the local area, but is struggling to accommodate its 178 pupils in a tiny Victorian building sandwiched between large industrial units.
We have given ourselves the challenge of helping to raise enough money to allow the school to build a new classroom so that year groups are no longer mixed and the children can benefit from a much-improved learning environment. For anyone who has children, you will know how early education experiences are so important in terms of shaping their development.
We are aiming to raise at least £6,000 towards this fantastic cause, so whether you dig deep, (please!!) or just pull together some spare change from behind the cushions of the office sofa, all contributions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you for your support in this. It means a great deal to all of us at Drax and from the teams below who will be sporting their blisters with pride on the day:-
