Following my father's passing at the start of the year from cancer and the care and support he, and us as a family received from Alaw Ward in Ysbyty Gwynedd I feel that raising money for them would go a small way to show how grateful we are and to say thank you.

My father Emrys Lewis Jones, or Ems as he was known by so many started running after retiring from playing football in his forties. He ran for Cybi striders and enjoyed training and meeting new people, something he missed from his football days. He participated in numerous different races but races around Snowdonia is what he really loved and used to explain every race to myself and Kieran in great detail with a smile on his face. During the last few years Kieran and I would join him on these races; and the time spent with him is something I now cherish. One of his accomplishments was running the Snowdonia Marathon on numerous occasions into his fifties. Unfortunately I never got the chance to run this great race with him.

This year both myself and Kieran will be running the Snowdonia Marathon to raise money for the Alaw Ward. As the Snowdonia Marathon was the only marathon my father participated in I thought it would be fitting to run it.

Yn dilyn y golled a gawsom ddechrau'r flwyddyn hon, pan fu farw fy nhad o gancr, dymunaf ddiolch am y gofal dderbyniodd y teulu oll gan Ward Alaw. Teimlaf y byddai codi arian tuag at Ward Alaw yn mynd ychydig at deud diolch iddynt.

Rhoddodd fy nhad, Emrys Lewis Jones (new Ems, fel oedd pawb yn ei nabod) y gorau I chwarae pel droed yn ei 40au, a ddechreuodd rhedeg gyda Cybi Striders. Roedd wrth ei fodd yn ymarfer a chyfarfod pobl, yn union fel yn ei ddyddiau peldroed. Cymerodd ran mewn amryw o rasus a magodd gariad mawr tuag at rasus yn ardal Eryri. Gyda gwen, eglurai bob un ras I Kieran a minnau mewn manylder mawr. Yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf, ymunodd Kieran a minnau ag ef I redeg rhain; ac mae'r adegau hyn yn rhai annwyl iawn Imi 'nawr.

Eleni, gobeithiaf redeg fy marathon gyntaf, a chodi arian I Ward Alaw drwy wneud hynny. Gan mai Marathon Eryri oedd yr unig farathon I 'nhad ei redeg, teimlaf mai hon ddyliwn innau roi cynnig arni.
