Kidney Wales is the leading kidney charity in Wales. We are here to support patients and their families, promote excellence in kidney research, education, and treatment within Wales.

Story

On Wednesday 1st March our whole world was turned upside down. Elliott was rushed by ambulance from the Grange A&E to the Heath Renal transplant ward where he stayed for 3 weeks.

It was confirmed that both of Elliotts kidneys stopped working, and Elliott was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. It was a shock and the start of a very emotional and uncertain journey.

Elliott was a healthy 26 year old guy, who worked 40 plus hours a week, went to the gym, ate a healthy balanced diet and was the best Daddy to our 9 month old son. The reason for his kidney failure Is unexplained, which is why its so hard for us to process:( Elliott now attends dialysis 3 times a week in cardiff and has good days and bad days... on his bad days Elliott spends his time in bed resting and struggles with everyday life. We are still uncertain on what the future looks like, but Elliott is a warrior, his mind is so strong and his positivity is inspiring! But some days can be really tough which is why we are recieving support from Kidney wales, just like so many others out there who are suffering with what's called the "invisible disease".

Im running the 2023 CDF 10K on Sunday 3 September, and would be so grateful if you sponsored me. Running and exercising has really helped me get through the last few weeks and I know the money raised will help so many with similar circumstances.
