Young Londoners are full of ambition and aspiration. But too many are living challenging lives, where experiencing violence and exploitation is a regular occurrence. By working alongside young Londoners, through one on one support and group work we’re supporting them to reach their full potential.

Story

on Tuesday 3rd March 16 year old Shanur Ahmed was found dead near Gallion's Reach DLR in Newham. Police investigations are ongoing and the reason for the loss of this young life is not known. However it is evident that Shanur was the victim of violence.

We are friends and customers of Shanur's father Sharif who runs Eastern Cuisine restaurant and takeaway in Gipsy Hill in SE19. We are the other side of London from where Sharif, his wife Fatema and sons Sharfaraz and Shanur made a home but as friends, neighbours and Londoners we are his community and this loss has shaken us all.

Young men like Shanur should not be dying on the streets of London. He was studying hard and planning his future. A respected and loving young man.

Safer London has a goal which is very clear: to make London safer for young people aged 16-25 across all London Boroughs.

Lives like Shanur's should not be lost.
