There is no Planet B, and time is running out. We're galvanising the engineering community to ensure it serves all people and our planet better than ever before. Together, we put global responsibility at the heart of engineering.

Story

The Eco-House Initiative seeks to address the unprecedented challenges associated with continued population and economic growth, the need to alleviate poverty, and mitigation of and adaptation to climate change.

The Initiative is kickstarting an interactive design process whereby students, faculty and industry can partner with Latin American transitional housing provider Un Techo Para mi Pais (’A Roof for my Country’) to design, construct, evaluate and improve the sustainability of housing designs within a developing world context.

8 students have already travelled to Brazil and Ecuador this summer to undertake in-situ research, which will itself support the 12 post-graduate research projects commenced in October 2011.
