Story

At 16 years old, having been given 24 hours to live, I was given a liver transplant for Wilson's disease by Prof Roger Williams and his team at King's College Hospital. I had another Liver transplant in 1999.

Over two decades on and I'm as fit as I've ever been and happily married with two amazing boys: none of this would have been possible were it not for Prof Williams and his outstanding team.

I've cycled from Bristol to Oslo, ridden from Land's End back to Bristol off road but three weeks today, I will take part in my biggest challenge to date: the 2018 Etape du Tour de France, a stage of the tour open to the public. I will attempt to heft my considerable 105kg frame over 100 miles and up 4,017m of ascent. Knowing that I am riding in aid of The Foundation for Liver Research will be a huge help.

Deaths from liver disease continue to rise each year. The Foundation for Liver Research is at the very pinnacle of liver research globally. Money donated here has the very best chance of improving the outcomes for liver disease.

Your support means a very great deal to me.

Thank you so much,

Ed
