I found out about the Great North Swim through my Mum who told me that it was 1 mile accross lake Windemere, which at first daunted me. Though i saw it as a good opportunity to achieve a goal in a sport that I enjoyed whilst also making money for a worthy cause.

Swimming has been something that I have always enjoyed though I have not been doing much of late. The swim seemed a good way to get me back into the sport and at the same time the satisfaction of helping a charity that does fantastic work.
