Elaine was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014. In the last year of her life she suffered a number of complications but she remained strong and determined throughout. However, in early 2018 her health declined and in March she was admitted to Ipswich Hospital where she was subsequently transferred to Somersham Ward for the remaining weeks of her life. 

During this time, Elaine received exceptional medical care from the nursing staff on the ward. Our family was with Elaine around the clock and the staff and volunteers of the Somersham Ward provided incredible support throughout what was a very difficult time. 

We now want to repay in some small way the kindness and generosity of the staff and volunteers at Somersham Ward who helped us during this time, as well as enabling them to continue to provide similar support to other families in the same situation.
