After visiting the FareShare warehouse in central Bristol, I really wanted to contribute to their amazing cause - redistributing unwanted food (which would otherwise go to landfill), to charities and community groups.  The statistics of food poverty in the UK were pretty eye-opening - 8.4 million people in the UK struggle to afford to feed themselves.  And a staggering 1.9 million tonnes of food is wasted by the food industry each year.  FareShare help to distribute some of this food to vulnerable groups who really need it.
