Down's Syndrome North East is the leading organisation for the help and support of all people with Down's Syndrome and their famillies and friends. We cover Northumberland,Tyneside,Wearside,Durham and Teesside. We are a registered charity run entirely by parent volunteers.

Story

This September I'm running the Great North Run in aid of Down's Syndrome North East (DSNE). I'm not the most natural runner and I have to admit, training has been a bit of a slog - last time I did the GNR I had my fabulous friend Alice helping me along but this time I'm flying solo and I'm quite nervous about it. Knowing I'll be raising money for an amazing cause is really getting me through those long training runs!

DSNE, the charity I'm running in aid of, is very close to my heart. As many of you know, my amazing brother Jonathan has Down's Syndrome. However, this has not held him back in life one bit and his successes are owed in no small part to DSNE.

DSNE is a charity which improves the quality of life of children and adults with Down's Syndrome in the North East of England by organising social events (such as parties, workshops, bowling and pool evenings), ensuring their needs are voiced and providing advice for their parents and carers.

Down's Syndrome is a life-long disability, but it does not need to be life-limiting. DSNE is run entirely by volunteers and relies on donations to continue its vital work supporting the lives of people with Down's Syndrome and their families in the North East.

Please donate what you can to this brilliant and deserving cause!

Thanks
Ellie
