Golden Carrot Walk

Elif Aydemir-Tyson is raising money for Animal Cancer Trust
In memory of Sandy Tyson
ACT is taking the fight to cancer. We aim to provide education and information that help owners, the veterinary profession and all who care for our pets understand more about cancer and what treatments are possible.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Sandy the Golden Retriever had a carrot every evening at 9 pm. She might have missed one or two over the years, however this was her routine since she was three months old. Sandy was diagnosed with very rare type of cancer (digit melanoma) in August 2019, lost a toe following a successful operation and lived cancer free until August 2020. Unfortunately, she then developed multiple secondary cancerous tumours, including in her lungs and eyes, and sadly died in October 2020.

Cancer is one of the deadliest but widely researched human diseases, and we must acknowledge that it effects animals just as much. In fact, rarer cancer types are experienced far more in animals.

When Sandy died nothing made sense, and a huge hole was suddenly formed. The Golden Carrot is an idea created to help others via related charitable organisations, starting with ACT, and to support cancer research in animals.
