Bridge2Aid Training Programme Volunteering · 9 July 2018

There is a desperate need to tackle oral disease, infection and chronic pain throughout the developing world - to enable people to work, attend school and care for families. We teach skills that mean local people are able to function free from pain, and avoid preventable infections and diseases.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having spent over 30 years working as a dentist and helping train young dentists and dental nurses, I feel that I would like to do something worthwhile to help some of the world's 70% of people who have no access to dental care. Bridge2Aid is a charity where sustainable aid is given by training dental healthcare workers in local communities to provide emergency dental care which at present is unavailable. Many of us have experienced bad toothache at some point and know what relief treatment can bring. We can not imagine what it would be like not to be able to get help when we need it.

My colleagues at Family Dental Care in East Lothian have allowed me the time off so that I will be spending 2 weeks in Tanzania with a small team of volunteer dentists, hygienists and nurses training 2 groups of local healthcare workers in rural communities to provide emergency dental care to leave a lasting benefit for those people in need who live many miles away from dental clinics.

I hope that you would like to sponsor my trip and donate something through this site.
