Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This is Olivers story so far....

In January 2016, just a few weeks before Olivers 3rd Birthday, he was sadly diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma starts with an abdominal tumour and in Oliver's case, as with most children his age, it had spread throughout his bones and bone marrow. Oliver has since then been through a gruelling 16 months of treatment including aggressive chemotherapy, major abdominal surgery, an autologous stem cell transplant, high dose chemotherapy followed by three months in hospital ( much of which was spent in isolation and resulted in a serious liver disease), radiotherapy, immunotherapy, trips to intensive care and high dependency units, 82 blood & platelet transfusions and over 60 scans, X-rays and tests. He's had countless infections requiring more time in hospital on antibiotics and temperatures in the middle of the night have meant some very late night visits to the hospital in his pjs!! Chemotherapy has damaged his kidneys, which will hopefully be reversible with time but there are likely to be other long term side effects from the strong drugs he's had. So much more research needs to be done into childhood cancers like neuroblastoma to help develop better and kinder treatments - sadly these types of cancer are often underfunded and need more support to help ensure more and more kids survive - currently at the stage of diagnosis, chances of survival are about 40-50%.

Solving kids' Cancer is one of these charities and one that has supported Oliver and his family through the last 18months. At the beginning of April Oliver had his last immunotherapy, his cheeky grin you can see in the photo we have put on our page as his holds up the bottle almost saying cheers thank goodness this is the last one. Now his parents and family anxiously await results till the 8th of May after a week of intense tests this week. Oliver was fortunate to have been the last one to qualify for the immunotherapy others weren't as lucky and if they want it it will cost them £250,000 as the NHS won't fund it yet.... hopefully someday soon, its this charity that helps all these families and needs us to help them so please if you can spare a few quid or fancy doing something to help raise money for this cause please get involved. Over these next few months we have a few events planned to help this charity and you can either get involved come and enjoy yourselves whilst raising money for a great cause or just donate on this page if you prefer and want to help.  Big hugs 🤗 and love ❤️ in advance for any support you can offer us help this charity, it's only 100 children a year surely GB 🇬🇧 can do something about this, surely we can too xxxxx
