2010 Mount Kilimanjaro Challenge 1st - 6th March  

 

India & Esther & Liz, 3 adventurous girls are taking the ultimate challenge to raise money for the Out of Afrika Charity by climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. This challenging trek along the Machame Route will take us through dense tropical rainforest all the way up to the mighty snow-capped summit at 5,896m.

My Story

 

A few years ago, travelling through Kenya, one man made a quick stop in my hometown on his way to his home overseas. This decision changed the life of a young boy forever! This boy was given an opportunity to be educated at one of London's best universities, and is now making his mark managing a great manufacturing organisation in Kenya. The Mt Kilimanjaro Challenge is an opportunity for me to also give someone else a chance from my community to be educated. This is also to say thank you to my family for their love and support through the years in making my dream come true!

 

 

Out of Afrika Charity

 

Out Of Afrika is a charity founded in The United Kingdom that works at grass roots level with communities in Kenya to promote education to orphans and disadvantaged children to increase self-sufficiency and long term sustainability.

 

 

What is their mission?

 

To promote education and develop skills to improve literacy, health and welfare for long term self-sufficiency, improved livelihoods and uplift from poverty. 

 

 

Why?
Education is of vital importance for development and children everywhere have a right to a basic education. Education will revolutionize a child's whole life, bringing a permanent change to the child and their entire family.

 

 

Your money donations will go toward working with locally based community groups to establish projects such as:

• Child Sponsorship Program
• Vocational skills Training
• Providing basic school resources
• Sending volunteers to share and pass on their skills
• Improving school infrastructure
• Providing affordable computer equipment
• Environmental projects
• HIV/AIDS education, guidance/counseling
• ICT/development and creating resource centers
