Liverpool Chics helps to support the whole family of a child diagnosed with cancer, from diagnosis for as long as we are needed. Our Family Support worker is based at Alder Hey. We offer various events, theatre trips, parties etc to ensure all our families experience as much fun time as possible.

Story

As most of you know I turn the big 40 on 8th February. I wanted to celebrate my birthday by doing something which was a challenge to me and also seen me do something to remember by beautiful sister who sadly died aged just 17 years old from Cancer in June 1992. My sister Ruth was older then me by 4 years, she was my wingman and looked after me everywhere we went. One day I woke up and she was gone forever. I know she would be very proud of the person I’ve become especially nursing children and young people and being a mum to my little boy. There is not a day I wake up that I don’t think about her so it was important to me that for my 40th I did something that can support and help other people going through similar situations.

I’ve been growing my hair since September 2016 and on Saturday 2nd March I’m cutting it short to donate to the Princess Trust for them to make a wig for a child who needs it. I would like to try and raise some money for CHICS Children’s Cancer Support Group who support families dealing with cancer and siblings. The charity supported our family when we lost Ruth so it’s important to give something back.

I know money is tight so even if you can give £1-£5 I would be so very grateful

Lots of love Liz Grady xxx
