Done it!!!!! Not fast, not pretty but finishing was the target. I am now the proud posessor of a piece of chunky bling as proof. But more to the point my target of £5000 is nearly reached. Thank you to you all. If do still want to sponsor me the account will be left open until the middle of July.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I did it! Very slow, 5:42:51, but it did include a wait for the loo of 15 min and my hips gave out ( poor old dear!). I was beated by virtually everyone I knew taking part but I did beat Lorraine Kelly!
More importantly you have donated between you enough for 40 days of hospice care for one person . So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Thank you also to my 17 year old Jamie who's tenner has put the amount raised to over £4000! And to Euan and Helena who have each sponsored me one month's pocket money!
Thank you to Risebridge Sport and Health Club for their sponsorship!
As many of you will know, I will be 50 on 24th April 2010. I wanted to 'celebrate ' by seeing how much money I could raise for Help the Hospices. I knew I had to do a big challenge to achieve the £100 per annum that I have been alive, ie £5000, so the fact that the London Marathon is the day after my birthday on 25th April seemed apposit. I would have prefered it the day before, so the champagne will have to wait a day, but there we are!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now!!
Hospices provide palliative care for people who have life limiting illnesses beit cancer or HIV or any other such illnesses. Unfortunately the Government funds only, on average, 30% of the cost for adults' hospices and 15% for childrens'. The rest must be made up from donations and fundraising. Having seen the care provided and having had a number of friends cared for in our local hospice ' The Hospice in the Weald' I knew this was a charity I wanted to support. I also wanted to be involved in a health related charity as, although neither he nor my Mum, Iris, are still alive my Dad, Harold, was a Doctor and passionate about the care of his patients.
eg of how donated money could be used
£115 will provide a days nursing for one person
£117 would pay for a hospice to provide a home care visit
£25 two weeks of materials for art therapy classes
£30 for an hour in a spa pool for a child
and so it goes on.......
Please sponsor me as I would like to make a difference through my marathon.
Please note: Help the Hospices incure costs on my behalf so that I may run the marathon. I will cover those costs so any money donated by you will go only to the charity and will help people receiving hospice care.
To see how the fundraising is doing I am giving you each ownership or part ownership of each of my years!!! Anne, as my mother gets year 1(!)
