Story
My name is Ella Horvat and I am 11 years old. I am Canadian, but moved to England because of my dad’s job about a year ago. I have always been extremely passionate about animals and wildlife - and I hope to work as a vet or another wildlife specialist when I am older. My entire family enjoys wildlife and nature, and we wish we could make a difference. It is hard to see animals suffering and being threatened and not being able to do anything about it. I want to help them and protect species so they have a chance to enjoy life too.
Last fall, I read about the white rhino. I read that there are only 5 left in the world and only one of them is male. (The picture on my web page is Sudan - the last male) I started researching this and I think it is very sad what has happened to the white rhino. I really wanted to raise money to help save the white rhino. I learned about the Ol Pejeta Conservancy which protects the last five rhinos 24-hours a day and is trying to breed them. I hope to raise awareness about the fate of the white rhino and money to support the work that is being done at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This page is linked to "Tusk Trust" who will give all money raised on this page to the direct care of the white rhino. It is a start, and I hope that you will help me make a difference!
A big part of helping the white rhino is raising awareness. I am extremely grateful that my friends from school are helping spread the word. We have created a PowerPoint presentation and are sharing it with other students at school. Thanks to Lauren Y., Olivia (Libby) S., Susannah K. and Tilly W. (pictured in the gallery below - I am in the middle!) who have all had a part in raising awareness of this issue!
I also would like to thank my science teacher, Mrs. Groocock, for taking time to help me with this, and for putting my drawings of endangered animals on our t-shirts.
