Story

In April 2013, 14 year old Amelia was diagnosed with a very severe form of Aplastic Anaemia.  This meant she needed constant daily drugs and weekly blood transfusions, and antibiotics to deal with numerous infections.

Despite the many hospital visits, some of which were in isolation, she remained positive and upbeat throughout, and an inspiration to those around her.

In July just before she was due to have her bone marrow transplant, she developed a severe liver infection which then spread throughout her body.  Despite the best efforts of the amazing staff at Worthing, the Marsden and Kings College Hospitals, she lost her courageous battle and passed away on 14th August 2013.

She was a beautiful and incredible daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend - and was loved so much by so many and will never be forgotten.

The AAT is the only charity that offers support to patients and their families with this horrible disease, and also funds research into the cause and treatment of AA.
