In October 2014 my daughter Ava (aka Beany) contracted pneumococcal meningitis, she was only 3 months old.

Around 15% of children with Pneumococcal Meningitis die, and 25% will have severe, lasting effects, including loss of hearing, loss of sight, learning and language disabilities, or seizures.

Fortunatley due to catching it very early and the outstanding care she received from the doctors and nurses at North Tyneside General Hospital she has made a full recovery, with no permanent damage.

It was an extremely difficult time and I can't put into words how grateful we were for the support from family, friends and staff at the hospital. 

I have completed the GNR a few times but never really had a cause to run for but I do now! Without the amazing work that the Meningitis Research Trust do to fight and raise awareness of this terrible illness my beautiful, happy and healthy daughter may not have made it. 

We consider ourselves to be extremely lucky, others aren't. Please help me to raise as much money as possible for this brilliant charity.
