Story

I am raising money in memory of my brother George, who died 10 years ago because of this horrible disease https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/merrf-syndrome/

He was an exceptionally brave person and I am going to honor his memory by facing some of my fears! The idea is to do 30 scary things this year as I have recently turned.

Here are some of the things I will be doing over the next 12 months. I'm not setting out to do 30 extreme or dangerous things.  Just 30 things that I will find challenging in some way, either physically or emotionally.

In no particular order...

Shark dive (October)
Start running
Run 5k (September)
Run 10k
Cycle a bicycle on the road
Abseil
Go for dinner on my own
Ride a horse
Get my legs waxed
Climb a mountain (August)
Ride a rollercoaster
Paddle board
Park in a multi-story car park
Go to a dance class (July)
Give up meat for one month
Drive on the motorway (x5)
Caving
Perform somewhere (singing)
Begin new job (September)
Do some kind of sport

So there you go.  Skilled mathematicians among you will notice that there are NOT 30 things! This is because:
a) A couple of the things are quite personal and I won't be writing about them. Sorry.
b) Financial constraints mean I don't want to commit to too many costly activities for fear of ending the year with an empty bank account.
c) I'm hoping a few scary things will naturally present themselves as we go along. Suggestions welcome!
