Ellie Trickett is raising money for Stroke Association
In memory of Margaret Bailey
Story
On Sunday 28th April 2019 I'm running the big 26.2; the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon!
Lots of you will know that I'm not new to running, I've ran several half marathons over the past few years and enjoy keeping fit, but this will be my first full marathon and it's safe to say I'm feeling excited and terrified in equal measures. It's certainly going to be a challenge, but one which I feel extremely lucky to be able to take on.
The London Marathon has always been on my bucket list and despite several years of unsuccessful ballot entries, this year I was lucky enough to be selected by the Stroke Association to run for Team Stroke, a charity really close to mine and my family's hearts.
Strokes are the fourth single largest cause of death in the UK, that's one happening every 5 minutes. My Grandma suffered two strokes, the second leaving her unable to ever return home and she remained in care for the rest of her life. We all continue to miss her greatly and if I can use this challenge to help raise both money and awareness around the prevalence of strokes, the warning signs and how they could be prevented it will help to save lives.
The Stroke Association are the UK's leading charity dedicated to conquering stroke and their fantastic work on stroke prevention, recovery, support and continual research is life changing for stroke survivors and their families. By sponsoring me to run the London Marathon you will be donating to a brilliant cause and will help the charity to continue to fund vital services and life-saving research for stroke survivors.
So here goes...wish me luck and thank you in advance for your kind support, I'm extremely grateful for any donations made. Hope to see you along the route or there at the finish line on the big day!
