Update : I'm pleased to say that I completed the distance on 13th January in 6 hours and 45 minutes.

A few months ago I was lucky enough to visit Visyon and see and hear about the incredible work they do with children, young people and families locally. Unfortunately over the last couple of years they have seen unprecedented demand for their services and like many charities have seen their ability to fundraise limited by covid pandemic restrictions.  With ever increasing waiting lists for mental health support for young people through the NHS the work they do is becoming more vital. As a parent I’m comforted knowing we have such an incredible service locally and I’d really like to do something to help them to support more young people and families in their time of need. 

How long does it take to row 50 miles? A good question! I’ve been training hard for the last few months and I’m hoping to complete the distance in about 8 hours. Through training I’ve clocked up over 50 hours on the rower covering over 600km. This is a huge challenge for me, mentally as well as physically. Knowing the big difference the money I raise will make to young people will keep me going in those tough moments I’m sure.
