We feel passionately about the plight of stray, abandoned and mistreated dogs all over the world. Our rescue dog Ruby was found with her brother in the sweltering heat on Corfu Island, Greece and came to London in May 2015, with the incredible help of another charity we are supporting CARE CORFU. CARE presently operates a very successful castrating and neutering and rehoming programme to diminish the hundreds of unwanted puppies on the Island and without your continuous help and the support of their local vets, they would not be able to continue.
With our sweet Ruby (pictured with me not long after she arrived), it was love at fist sight and seeing her grow into the confident happy dog that she is today, an integral part of our family, has meant that this cause is close to our hearts. We want to ensure other dogs in the same situations or worse are afforded the chance to shine and live happily ever after.
The Wild at Heart Foundation funds and supports animal welfare projects all over the world. In particular, they aim to reduce the world's 600 million stray dog population. They do this by organising and sponsoring rescue projects, neutering programmes, awareness campaigns and education initiatives.
In many countries that have no laws against cruelty to animals, they often control stray dog populations by poisoning, hanging, beating and electrocution.
This is why Wild at Heart Foundation wants to end the suffering of these amazing creatures; because we believe they have a right to live free from pain. They do this by:
Providing funding and support to international rescue and adoption projects,Organising neutering programmes, including research into new sterilisation techniques,Creating campaigns that raise awareness of animal suffering, the importance of neutering and adoption over buying pets, andDelivering education initiatives to children, teaching our next generation how important it is to care for animals.
