Story
I am running two marathons (Barcelona & London) in quick succession for the Footsteps Foundation. The charity has been inspirational providing specialist and intensive rehabilitation to help improve the quality of life for someone who is very close to my heart. It doesn’t stop there, with your generosity we can help raise funds to help improve the quality life and provide treatment to many other children.
Like a lot of nine-year olds, Chase has always dreamt of being a footballer. But Chase was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of
18 months old making it a challenge to play the game he loves. Cerebral palsy affects his lower limbs causing him to walk with an unusual gain and discomfort on a daily basis. Currently he trains with the disabled team at Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club. He has also recently been selected to be a part of the FA England Talent Hub which will provide Chase with the opportunity to develop his skills and stamina and potentially play for England in the future.
Chase is an inspiration of mine and when the chance arose to support the charity that has helped him it was a no brainier. To think running
two marathons in a short space of time is difficult or challenging, when I look at his story I really don’t know what difficult or challenging is.
About the Footsteps Foundation:
The charity Footsteps foundation was set up in 2008 to help
children and young people with neurological disorders to access intensive physiotherapy at the Footsteps Centre. Footsteps Foundation helps to pay the therapy costs for families who would otherwise struggle to fund this private treatment.
Their mission is to improve the quality of life for children with neurological conditions, enabling them to receive the intensive therapy
they need, regardless of whether their families can afford treatment or not.
Where does the money go?
- 80p in every £1 raised directly funds therapy.
- £10 will go towards funding therapy for a disabled child
- £55 is equivalent to one hour of specialist therapy
- £110 will allow a child to have a day at footsteps
- £550 enables a child to benefit from a week of therapy
- £1,650 will cover an entire three week session of physiotherapy
- £4,950+ allows a child to complete a year of life changing therapy.
There is nothing more unattractive than me with a shaved head. However aerodynamics suggest this could help me run faster, given my ears should help me fly. As stated above £4,950+ allows a child to complete a year of life changing therapy. With Macquarie matching If i can raise this (£2,500) before the London Marathon (28th April) I will happily take hair clippers and shave the hair off my head.
Any donations will be hugely appreciated, thank you
