Himalayan 100 · 31 October 2015

Our aim is to help patients and staff by purchasing equipment, funding research and improving the hospital's environment. We've pledged to raise money to build a new Brachytherapy Treatment Unit. This will keep the Centre at the leading edge of world-class cancer and haematological treatments.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to run 100 miles in 5 consecutive days in the Himalayas starting on the 1st November this year. The event is known as the Himalayan 100 and is recognised as one of the most gruelling changes on the planet. The runs are between 15 and 26 miles at altitudes of between 6 thousand and 13 thousand feet. The first 3 days are without toilets, running water or a proper bed....

Why have I decided to do something so crazy? Simple really....in 1999 my mum fell ill with lung cancer and was given virtually no chance of surviving. Less than 10% chance of survival was given by the doctors who treated and operated on her. She was classed as "a medical miracle". BUT, like the absolute hero she is, she survived and is still trying to help me grow up to this very day! .

My mum being the person she is felt she wanted to give something back to the NHS once she had recovered and subsequently spent 10 years working as a volunteer for the friends of Bristol Haematology and Oncology (5 of those years unpaid) helping numerous individuals going through the same things she had been through, so a charity that are very close to my heart.

They are a fantastic charity that do so much brilliant un-sung work for the people of Bristol and surrounding areas. Given everything they have done for my family I couldn't think of a better cause!

Please give very generously!!
