Aching Arms, bringing comfort after loss. We bring hope and comfort to bereaved parents' aching arms by giving a teddy bear to hold. Each bear, is given in memory of another precious baby's life lost too soon and is a gift with love from one family to another.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 25th of June 2022 I gave birth to our beautiful baby boy Oliver at 23 weeks, and he was born sleeping. In our 20 week scan a heart defect was found and later diagnosed called Hypoplastic Left Heart syndrome. This is a rare condition that affects normal blood flow through the heart. As Oliver grew, the left side of his heart did not form properly. We were faced with the difficult decision to end our pregnancy.

Oliver was due on the 22nd of October, and in his memory I would like to raise some money for the charity Aching Arms.

Aching Arms is a charity that gives its comfort bears to hospitals and hospices, for midwives and nurses to offer to bereaved parents in their care. Along with the bears, they offer support services to parents after their loss, whether it was during a pregnancy, at birth or soon after.

We now take special care of our Teddy - mostly looked after by Daisy - and we have also donated one in Oliver's name to gift to another family. Hopefully we are able to donate some more in his name!

To raise some money and take part in the Miles in Memory challenge I am running a 10K alongside my Mum, Dad, Dan, Conor & Tony on Sunday 23rd October in Hornchurch Country Park. I hope to raise some money and awareness around baby loss by sharing our story.
