Happy Hearts Appeal

Most children are born with a normal, healthy heart.  In some cases though, children are born with defects or abnormalities.  As a member of the Cardiology team at the Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust I see many children on a daily basis who are born or living with a heart condition, and for many of these infants they are unable to live their lives the way most children of their age do. 

I would therefore like to raise money for the Happy Hearts Appeal, launched in 2008 by the Ipswich Bangladeshi Foundation.  The appeal aims to raise £40,000 for a new ultrasound cardiac scanner (echocardiography machine) for the Paediatric department at Ipswich Hospital.  This vital piece of equipment will ensure the clinicians have the most up-to-date technology to help diagnose illnesses quicker.

To raise the money towards this worthy cause I shall be abseiling down the Maternity block at the hospital on Saturday 10 July 2010 between 9 am and 10 am.   

Children are our future, we need to look after them.
