Emily's Virtual Vitality 10k

Virtual Vitality London 10,000 · 29 May 2021 to 6 June 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I will be completing the Virtual Vitality London 10k sometime during the whit school holidays (actual date to be confirmed). I have been running on and off (more off than on) for the last 10 years, I would not call myself a runner and have only ran more than 10k twice and both of those where scheduled events, I prefer to stay around the 5k mark so this will be a challenge. Having the opportunity to raise money for this charity and use it as away to support my own fitness and mental health seemed like a great combinationI
I chose this charity because at 32 weeks pregnant, Carl and I were told that Toby had something called Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum which means the major pathway between the two hemispheres in Tobys brain had failed to form correctly. It is extremely hard to put into words how it feels to find out that your child has a rare neurological condition.
Never having heard of it before we began trying to find as many answers as we could which proved difficult, upsetting and lead to a lot of uncertainty and even more questions surrounding Tobys development and what that might look like. It wasn’t until Toby was 10 months old that we came across the charity Corpal and since finding them we have found so much more information, support and a place to connect with other parents/carers/families supporting children with ACC and also adults with it themselves.
At nearly 18 months old Toby is a very happy little boy who loves songs, tickles, giggles, cuddles, anything he can get to his mouth, blowing raspberries, people, swings and much much more.
By creating this page I hope to raise money and awareness for a charity and condition that a lot of people know nothing about and to let people know that there is support out there.
