LionsRaw Marseille Legacy Tour 2016 · 12 June 2016

We are a movement that mobilises passionate football fans to make a difference in the lives of others locally and globally. We want to see football fans creating chances for change at home and away. The Raw Foundation is the charitable arm of Lionsraw working in UK, Europe, Brazil and South Africa

Story

From the 12th to the 20th June, I will be travelling to Marsellie with Northumbria Women's Futsal Team. Working alongside the UFEA Euros I will be helping in the delivery of several amazing football projects through LionsRaw.

LionsRaw are a Global Charity, who harness the passion of the beautiful game as a catalyst to make a positive difference in the host cities of FIFA World Cups and UEFA Euros, ensuring that a positive legacy is left behind in the local region long after the tournament and the fans have left.

Through the use of these projects we will be aiming to impact the social issues, creating the opportunity for change and making a positive difference. We will be providing sports sessions and life skills for children within the community. During our time in Marsellie we will be working with children with disabilities, help to remodel and build new football facilities in disadvantaged areas, but most importantly looking to encourage and engage girls, women through football and futsal project. The women and girls as a result of religious, social or financial barriers who have not had the chance previously access and participate in sporting or football opportunities can.

Football and Futsal are highly important for myself and the girls and have been lucky enough to be provided with this fantastic opportunity, to change lives through something we are so passionate about. Helping them to get the same opportunities we are been grateful given. Also, we are so excited to travel to Marsellie and get cracking with the project.

On the final day of the project, we will be representing England in an international showcase tournament to further help increase participation and engage with locals through football.

Unfortunately, with being a student funds are not great. I have been able to cover the cost of the flights, and the fundraising target is simply to cover the cost of the project itself. We are wanting to make a huge impact in Marsellie during the short time we are there and would be massively grateful if you are able to support us to make sure we reach Marsellie. We appreciate any support we can get!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this page,
