Story

For many years, in many places, people's lives have been made easier and better with bicycles. Every time I get on a bike I think of the first generation of Edwardian women who pedalled their way to freedom. Today, a robust bicycle can make an extraordinary difference to the lives of children, women and men in the developing world. Instead of walking for many arduous hours to school, to clinics and to markets, a bicycle can bring speedier, safer and more efficient ways to help people learn, work, access healthcare and care for others. The power of a bicycle to makes places smaller and lives better is quite amazing - and World Bicycle Relief has developed a sustainable model to bring this change to life.

In July 2023 (after 3 years of postponement for Covid) I will be cycling out of my comfort zone - in distance and terrain - to challenge myself and to raise money for this extraordinary charity. I have a special connection to this part of the world and would like to make a small difference through this pedalling adventure. I will cover all my costs of the trip so any funds you can kindly contribute will go directly to World Bicycle Relief, supplying bicycles, training mechanics and making lives better. Any amount you can donate will be wonderful, and just so you know £120 can buy a bicycle for a young woman like Ethel, age 15, in Zambia, who told World Bicycle Relief that "This bicycle has shown me that I will have a bright future."

Thank you so much!
