Story
The children in our school want to show compassion and help the children in school in Syria. To do this, they are writing letters, drawing pictures and making friendship bracelets. A team of parents are cycling to London to deliver these offerings to the Headquarters of the hand in hand for Syria and UNHCR charities. We are raising money to fund more books and resources in the schools.
We will be giving them a grand send off on Thursday 22nd October as they aim to cycle to London in just one day. They will deliver the letters the following morning on Friday 23rd October. The children at school will be following their journey via facetime.
The children feel it is very unfair that such suffering should take place in our world. They want to make the children in Syria aware that they are being thought of and prayed for. They hope that their letters and bracelets will be a gift that will make them smile and bring a little happiness. The money will allow the charities who focus on children to help them have more.
The money will be spent on resources in the schools in Syria. This could include books, pencils, paper, kitchen equipment and uniform. This will happen as soon as the charities workers are able to reach the schools, which they do as part of their work in the country. We hope we can improve schooling for some of the children in Syria and that they will be happier due to our efforts.
I have been Headteacher of Lympstone C of E Primary School for the last two years and am very proud to be organising this event. It shows great compassion from our children and great commitment and dedication from our team of cyclist parents. Thanks you to everyone involved and everyone who donates. Let's help our children to see the good that they can do in the world by being pro active and by caring.
