Story

My life would not be what it is today if not for organ donation and the help of the WRKPA.

My mum suffered complications when she was pregnant with me nearly 26 years ago. She's made of stern stuff and pulled through but unfortunately her Kidneys did not. For a whole year she was in and out of hospital on dialysis, her activities were restricted, her diet was restricted. She quiet simply felt like s**t. It takes a tole on a person both mentally and physically. Not only on that person, but on an entire family. I obviously don't remember all this but my relatives certainly can't forget. Apparently my dad used to walk me down the hospital corridors with me holding on to his fingers.....

My mum was granted a new life on my 1st birthday. A brave and wonderful family (or individual) somewhere allowed their deceased loved ones organs to be given to others in need. One incredible person saved the lives of many on the 6th June 1992.

My amazing mum came out the other side, not without scars, not without hardship but with the knowledge that nothing could and ever will beat her. Each day is a blessing yet the reminders of all she has been through never go away. There are cocktails of pills and potions to get things just right and sometimes its a fine line requiring the balance and poise of a tightrope walker.

She does it all with a self-assuredness and grace that we are all very proud of.

So please, help this fantastic charity raise some money and awareness because you never know, one day it might be you in need of a blood transfusion or organ donation.
