Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Justgiving page.
In July 2010 my mum, Lizz Backhouse, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease aged just 45. Over the past year our family has received a huge amount of help and support, and mum's medication is having a great effect. A year down the line, and i think it's about time i gave something back to raise awareness and raise money for the society so that other people can get the same help we've had.
To do "our bit" dad and i are climbing four of Englands highest peaks in three days. We set off on 2nd July, so we haven't got long left to train! I'd really appreciate it if you'd show me some support and help motivate me to get walking (because we all know how much i love excercise). Even if you see me out and about walking and shout encouraging things at me, every little helps!
There is no cure for the disease, but the money you help me raise by supporting me on this trek will help towards funding more research, allowing the society to support families by giving them the information they need and fund the running of a "dementia cafe". Just £12.50 could enable one caller to the Alzheimer's Society Dementia Helpline to get the advice and support they need.
Thanks so much for your support.
