We fund research and offer support to beat the isolation of macular disease

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am participating in the Great Birmingham Run (half marathon) on Sunday 21st October 2012.

I am running to support the Macular Disease Society. My dad has wet macular degeneration which means that he has lost the sight in one eye and requires regular eye injections to maintain the limited sight in his remaining eye. Since his diagnosis he is unable to drive and finds it almost impossible to read.....the simple things that most of us take for granted.

By sponsoring me you are supporting the Macular Disease Society to help find a cure for macular disease in the future; excellence in treatment, rehabilitation and support now and promoting independence, confidence and quality of life for people with macular disease.

The Macular Disease Society relies entirely on voluntary donations to achieve all we do for people who have macular degeneration. We receive no government funding.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I am very grateful for any donation which you may be able to make.

Thank you. Emma x
