The Jon Egging Trust supports vulnerable and under-confident young people who are struggling to engage at school. They work with students for up to three years, supporting them to build aspiration and self-belief, and to reengage with learning and maximise their potential.

Story

On Sep 17 2013 I am going to set off with four ex Red Arrows to cycle from St. Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay on the East Coast, off road. The ride will take us over the peaks of the Lake District, the Pennines and the Yorkshire Moors and we are going to attempt the 175 mile ride in 48 hours or less...! We will be raising money and awareness for the Jon Egging Trust.

Jon joined the Red Arrows in late 2009. In Aug 2011 he was killed as he broke into the circuit to land at Bournemouth Airport after the Red Arrows display at the seafront.

Jon was supposed to have taken part in a charity cycle ride across the UK with 10 riders from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, 10 from the Red Arrows and 10 from the Blades Aerobatic Team in October that year. I took Jon's place in that event and set up a charity in his name that serves to inspire underprivileged young people between 12 and 15 years of age to achieve their potential, despite the difficulties they face in day to day life.

Since 2011 the Jon Egging Trust has gone from strength to strength and is now becoming a national charity with projects occurring all over the UK. Sponsoring us in our painful quest across the country will make and enormous difference to many children nationwide, so please give generously.
