Story
I'm very lucky to have a charity place in the 2021 London Marathon (26.2 miles/ 42km!) and it's for the NHS!
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Charitable Fund is a cause closely linked to Luc's mum Catherine, who sadly passed away in June this year.
We've all faced a really challenging time recently, but Catherine's was quite frankly awful. In the spring of 2020 she was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia). In recent months she was told she also had a very rare and aggressive sarcoma (a bone and soft tissue cancer). She had to undergo tests, treatment and multiple hospital stays. Sadly it reached a point where there was nothing more they could do to stop this cruel disease.
By taking on this challenge I want to support the work of the Trust, who help patients and families when they need it most. I wish Catherine could be there to watch me on the day, but I will be channelling her strength as best I can, every step of the way.
I'm requesting all donations raised to be allocated to the Haematology Department via Fund 1009, the Haematology and Amenity Fund.
With your help I can reach and maybe even exceed my pledge of £1,500.
Thank you.
Emma
